Candidate Bios:

  • Hi, my name is Barbara Brewer, and I have lived in the Villages of Woodland Springs for over 12 years. The VOWS has always provided top-notch amenities and resources, from well-maintained parks and pools to various community events that bring residents together. However, escalating costs and persistent inflation pose substantial fiscal hurdles, demanding resourceful stewardship to preserve the exceptional amenities that define our beloved community.

Serving on the board of my children's private school and multiple PTA boards has given me a unique perspective on the value of teamwork and collaboration. As the PTA president at Trinity Springs Middle School, I was responsible for overseeing and managing the budget, ensuring that resources were allocated effectively to meet the needs of the students and families. These roles have allowed me to develop skills in communication, organization, and teamwork, making me confident in my ability to work with the board to continue improving the quality of our neighborhood.

In addition to advocating for the Villages of Woodland Springs, I strongly believe in working with other HOA boards and city officials to improve the area's overall quality. By collaborating and building relationships with these entities, we can continue to make our community a desirable and thriving place for all residents and families. I am confident in my ability to contribute positively to the neighborhood and make a lasting impact as a board member. I appreciate your consideration in serving on the Villages of Woodland Springs HOA board.

  • My name is Chris Collins, and I have proudly resided in VOWS for 23 years. Over the past six years, I have had the privilege of serving on the HOA board as the chairman of the pond committee, member of the LGC committee in addition to currently holding the position of Vice President.

My extensive experience in landscape and grounds management provides me with a comprehensive and well- rounded understanding of managing large-scale homeowners associations and the intricate responsibilities involved in maintaining an irrigation system and green space this size.

In my role as Vice President, I have developed a keen insight into the challenges that our HOA faces as our community ages and have effectively leveraged my industry expertise to address them proactively. I am committed to ensuring that we receive exemplary service from vendors and to holding them accountable should they fall short of our established standards.

One of my recent contributions includes working in concert with the other board members for a redefinition of the HOA's landscaping management strategy, which will introduce greater efficiency and cost savings that will benefit our community in the long term. My ongoing goal is to uphold the high standards of our community while fostering its continued growth and success.

I asked for your vote for another term as a volunteer for our HOA.

  • My name is Chad Pack. I have lived in VOWS for 8 years. During that time, I have been fortunate to serve the community in many ways. I have been on the board for 6 years. Serving as Treasurer during the early years of my board membership, I have a well-rounded perspective on the financial responsibilities for keeping the HOA functioning and our amenities top notch. Recently, as President of the HOA, I have gained a perspective of the challenges that face the HOA and have postured accordingly to meet them head on. I have been on the front lines coordinating the HOA response to threats posed by ONCOR and developers. I work well with community leaders, local media, neighboring HOAs and city leaders to advance the interests of the HOA and our homeowners. I have tirelessly worked with the city to navigate the bureaucracy to improve the traffic situation on Park Vista, Timberland and Beach.

I maintain a “I am a homeowner first” mentality in managing the HOA. My decisions are based on what homeowners’ value. I have a reputation for being fair and honest in dealing with homeowner concerns. I have worked with the management team and other board members to ensure that the HOA operates within its means financially. My defining goal is no assessment increases. My business skills help to manage the tight budget and ensure funds are available where they are needed. I have a thorough understanding of the financial standing of the HOA. I strive to ensure that we get the proper service from vendors and hold them accountable should they not meet our standards. I hold them to a high service standard for a fair price. Recently I have worked with my fellow board members and management team to successfully reduce our landscaping budget through negotiation. I helped redefine how landscape is managed in the HOA to allow greater efficiencies and savings in the future. I have the fiscal responsibility in my work ethic to understand what is needed, what is required and what is a nice to have. I have the business acuity to understand there is a right time and place for actions. I continue to make the right decision for the HOA’s financial wellbeing as difficult as they may be at times. I have an understanding and courage that sometimes the unpopular decisions must be made for the right reasons.

There is still a lot left to address as we course correct the HOA and fine tune our budgets where needed. The

HOA must work within its financial constraints and not repeatedly come to the homeowners for additional funds through assessment increases. That is my number one goal, driving all decisions.

My goal is to ensure the HOA operates efficiently and make the right decisions even when faced with tough, unpopular decisions. I will continue to work to hold the HOA responsible for maintaining fiscal strength and stewardship. I continue to hold our vendors to the high service standards expected by our homeowners and not timid to hold them accountable if those standards slip. I will continue to work to secure the pools from vandalism and increase homeowner enjoyment at the amenities. I will continue to work with the two new landscape vendors that our parks and entry beds are rehabilitated to our standards as homeowners after the lack luster performance of the previous landscape company. I will continue to work to fine tune new contractual obligations of our vendors and safeguards to ensure that substandard service no longer happens in the HOA landscaping.

  • My name is Martina Worley. I am a 10-year VOWS resident and just completed my first term on our HOA board. I’ve been married for 11 years and have a 5th and 3rd grader.

Currently, I serve as the secretary of the board. During my time on the board, I have focused on learning the minutiae of our process, our regulations, the budget and our pain points as a neighborhood.

Going forward, my main focuses will be improving landscaping, pool security and budget/dues management.

For landscape, focus on holding vendors accountable, making smart decisions for the right type of plants, irrigation management and making sure all sides of the neighborhood look as they should.

Regarding our pools, I want to continue with our current plans to increase security. Specifically with tangled measures at each of our pools and by partnering other our Neighborhood Police Office to maximize patrols.

As a longtime resident, I understand the impact of dues increases on each of us and also understand the necessity of making thoughtful incremental increases to balance expenses/inflation. I’m committed to continue working with the board and the office staff to make fiscal decisions that are in our best interest.
